I hope you don't mind, but I tried drawing Rita as you drew her: [link]

It definitely didn't come out as well.

HOLY SMOKES!! I love the "Jungledyret" movies (the first two, at least)! Nice work! Did you use a tablet to draw this (just out of curiosity)? I'm thinking of getting a tablet, but I don't know which would be good for a beginner digital-artist... What might you recommend?

yep, used a tablet (Intuos3) but I heard the Wacom Bamboo were very good beginner tablets

Thanks! When drawing with a non-Cintiq tablet, do you keep your eyes on your hand or on the screen mostly for best results?

I've never used a cintiq.
I just keep my eyes on my screen, looking at my hands would do.. nothing of expected results

In other words, you have to adopt a feel for using a non-Cintiq tablet in order to utilize it as effectively as possible (as opposed to the "feel" of just drawing while looking at a sheet of paper)?

I'm not sure what exactly you're tying to get to, honestly. I may be a bit slow.

I think what happens when using a tablet/drawing, though, is that you don't watch your -pen/hand- while you draw, you just watch where the lines go

Sorry about that! I tend to bumble through my words sometimes. I understand what you mean now, though. Does it take a while to learn how to use a tablet well, or does it just come naturally if you're a good artist?

I wouldn't say that-
I will say that everything does take practice, though
